Projects > Buccaneer Keyboard
Christened the Buccaneer, this is our take on a "steampunk keyboard" design - essentially a mechanical computer keyboard that has been modified to resemble an old world aesthetic.

The keyboard is comprised of a solid walnut frame (the wood recovered from a damaged antique dressing table) with brass plated sides and an engraved "Rampkins" nameplate at the front.
The brass keys protrude through separate holes in the genuine gold-tooled, desk leather faceplate.
The right side of the keyboard sports another engraved brass plate, which can be removed to reveal two USB 2.0 ports.
Due to the large amount of brass and woodwork, the Buccaneer weighs in at 5 lbs, compared to the 3 lbs Das Keyboard it was built on.

Emerald glass rhinestones cover the status lights, and glow red when in use.
A short clip of the Buccaneer Keyboard in action is embedded below.
